Wattle

Project Wattle is one of our smaller, more unique projects to date. These clients came to us after being recommended by a family member who had worked with us previously, wanting to upgrade their outdoor entertaining area and install an open fire. We worked through sketch plans and designs together and landed on a solution everyone was happy with.

The scope was anything but standard. We replaced the deck, adjusting its layout completely, shrinking it in one spot and extending in another, infilled some of the existing paved area to tie the old in with the new, and then got to work on the feature pieces. A beautiful recycled red brick fireplace with a Jetmaster insert, bluestone slabs for the hearth shelf and the two wood storage boxes either side. A louvre roof overhead, EZip blinds to enclose the space, electric heat panels in the ceiling, and a fully built in outdoor kitchenette with a barbecue and fridge. An entertainer's paradise.

This project evolved as we got to work, with the clients having a lot of input on the finished look and detail along the way. That kind of collaboration mid build can be a challenge to manage, but when it works it works, and the result here speaks for itself

The Jetmaster insert means the fireplace draws beautifully. Sitting next to the pool would be the best spot on the property on a summer's night, but on a winter evening with the blinds down and the fire going, you understand exactly why they wanted it. This outdoor space gets used all year round and you can see why.
