Beach

Project Beach is one of our larger projects to date. S & N came to us through an architect led tender by Tom at Studio A2 Architects, the first time we had presented a competitive tender. We took a lot from that process, and from the very first meeting we genuinely clicked with S & N.

We worked through a couple of revisions together until we landed on a scope and figure that met the budget, scheduled construction, and got moving. For such a large and considered home, this one flowed. Ten months from start to finish, pulled back from a projected twelve months, and S & N were in well before the chaos of the Christmas break started.

At almost 350 square metres, the main house is a big home and it has everything to match. Four bedrooms, two studies, a mudroom, laundry, and a kitchen and walk in pantry that were clearly the heart of this build. S loves his time in the kitchen and you can see that in the beautiful design and layout. Joined with a deck and alfresco at the back of the property sits a self contained unit with its own bedroom, living area, kitchenette, dining, walk in robe, and ensuite. All up that’s five bedrooms, two studies, three bathrooms, and three living areas.

The design by Tom is stunning throughout. Vaulted ceilings through the main living, an inbuilt Lacunza wood fire that is the centrepiece of the room, and a ceiling fan with a wingspan of 2.2 metres that was made for a space like this. The Timber Natives pendant over the kitchen island was one of S & N's first purchases and the colour palette was built around it from there. A splash of colour carries through into the feature tiles in the ensuite. And the kids got to make their rooms their own, picking the colours of their robe doors and having some fun with it. We love seeing that in a family home almost as much as we love bringing projects like this to life.
